Over six years ago I thought it would be a great idea to put on a Macro Photo Conference, dedicated to two full days of macro. I got Tamron and Hunt's Photo as sponsors, and I lined up pro speakers that came from across the country, all teaching something a little different to expose macro geeks to different kinds of opportunities in macro.
Along with great lectures, I had over 100 set ups for the attendees to have fun shooting at the end of each day. That first conference sold out 100 spots in 20 days. People came from 16 different states that first year, which really surprised me.
My thoughts were just to do this one conference and be able to say I did it. The conference went so well that I decide to go another year, and the second one went so well, that here I am in my sixth year, and still having a blast.
This year we have people coming from 23 different states, and Canada. The first three years were held in Seakonk, Massachusetts and the last three years we have been in the Cleveland area. Next year the conference will be moving to Spartanburg, South Carolina.
So this Saturday will start the sixth annual Macro Photo Conference, and I can't wait to do it all again.
