Fifth Annual Macro Photo Conference 2018
This is a unique annual photo conference dedicated to macro photography. I’ve always wanted to design a program where professional photographers could come together and teach their skills in macro photography and post processing techniques to those who want to learn, and advance their macro photography to the next level.
This Macro Photo Conference will have plenty of how-to lectures and five hours of photographing with varying subject matter. The speakers will be available to help participants with composing subjects and technical aspects. So you need to bring your camera, macro lens, and tripod. The Macro Photo Conference is for all skill levels.
Speakers will have their books available, and will be happy to sign them for you.
Leading New England photo retailer Hunt’s Photo will be there selling lots of photo products. Tamron will have a tech rep on hand with lenses available for you to try out.
There will be a limit of 100 participants, and it should sell out quick. Last year we had participants from 19 different states.
Mike Matthews will have a set up with a few small critters to shoot.
We will also have a presentation on how-to clean your own sensor.

Don Komarechka
Don Komarechka is a nature, macro and landscape photographer located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. From auroras to pollen, insects to infrared, much of Don’s photographic adventures reveal a deeper understanding of how the universe works. Exploring the world that we cannot see with our own eyes has been a common thread in Don’s career as a professional photographer. Always science-minded but never formally trained, Don uses photography as a way to explore and understand the world around him. Photographing something unusual or unknown is the perfect excuse to learn something new. Don’s work often pushes up against the technical limitations of modern camera equipment and the physical limitations of light itself. www.donkom.ca
The Beauty of Physics: Magical Macro from Geometry and Bending Light
Macro photographers play by a different rulebook. The challenges faced from the subject matter, the equipment and even the laws of physics make this a challenging genre of photography. It can be abstract, it can tell stories, and it can spark your imagination. It's a study of lines, shapes and colors in a very technical way.
Step into a world of photography that most artists consider magical. Photographing refracted images within water droplets reveals not only the beauty of simple physics, but it opens the creative doors to unlimited possibilities in macro photography. The same admiration of simple physics can be seen in every snowflake; the admiration can quickly shift to frustration, but with the right tools and techniques, winter becomes a much more tolerable season for those with an eye for details. In the end, the hardest part is simply finding or creating the most beautiful subject.
Specific discussion of the challenges of depth of field and focus stacking will be discussed, as well as many reasons why extreme macro photography can be accomplished entirely handheld - and why this can be an advantage.

Jackie Kramer
Jackie has been photographing the natural world, with an emphasis on flowers, since the age 16. It wasn't until much later, however, that her photography grew when she was influenced by Nancy Rotenberg's philosophy and imagery. She began to see things that she wasn't focusing on, and that's when her images started to "sing." Jackie is at home in the field shooting wildflowers, in botanical gardens, home gardens, and in her home. Jackie has received international acclaim for her images and teaches individual and group workshops. She was named Competitor of the Year (2017) by the Jacksonville Professional Photographers Guild and in the Top Ten Photographers for 2017. Jackie also maintains an active Facebook group, Phlorography - Artistic Floral Photography, with over 2,700 passionate floral photographers from around the world. https://www.luvblooms.com/
FLORAL IMAGERY – FROM MUNDANE TO OTHER-WORLDLY
Jackie will share some of her techniques for floral photography to stimulate new ways of thinking. Unlock or awaken your own potential and create images that elicit various moods and touch viewers deep within. See how modifying certain elements, such as lighting, lenses, and one’s vantage point, can yield a smorgasbord of styles.
